Cutthroat pool is a fun and competitive variation of pool that can be played with three or more players. It’s a great game for casual get-togethers and pool hall gatherings, offering a unique twist on traditional pool. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to play Cutthroat pool.
Objective of the Game
The primary objective of Cutthroat pool is to be the last player with at least one of your designated balls on the table. Unlike traditional pool games where you try to sink your balls, in Cutthroat, you aim to eliminate your opponents' balls.
Equipment Needed
- A standard pool table
- A cue ball
- 15 numbered balls
Setting Up the Game
- Racking the Balls:
- Rack the balls in a standard triangle formation with the 1-ball at the front and the 15-ball at the center. The rest of the balls are placed randomly.
- Assigning Balls:
- In Cutthroat pool, players are divided into three groups, each assigned a range of five balls. For a three-player game:
- Player 1: Balls 1-5
- Player 2: Balls 6-10
- Player 3: Balls 11-15
- If there are more than three players, the balls are distributed evenly, and any extra balls are considered neutral until the players for them are eliminated.
